Prof. Richard Welbury (UK)

Richard Welbury qualified in dentistry (1978) and medicine (1984) from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. His PhD (1989) was entitled ‘An evaluation of composite resins and glass polyalkenoate cements in paediatric dentistry. He was a Lecturer at the Dental School in Newcastle before being appointed Consultant/Senior Clinical Lecturer in 1991. Between 2001 and 2015 he was Professor of Paediatric Dentistry in Glasgow as well as Director of Postgraduate Education and deputy head of the undergraduate school. In November 2015 he joined the staff of the University of Central Lancashire where he is research lead for the school of dentistry.

Richard Welbury has published over 200 scientific articles, 12 book chapters, 4 national clinical guidelines and is a co-author of five textbooks. The textbook ‘Paediatric Dentistry’ is the recommended text in all UK and Ireland Dental Schools and has been translated into Russian and Turkish.

From 2003-2006 he was Chairman of the Standing Advisory Committee for training in Paediatric Dentistry in the UK and Chair of the Bi-Collegiate MPaed Dent Exam Board (1999-2004). He served as Training Programme Director for Paediatric Dentistry in both Newcastle and Glasgow for over 15 years.

He was Secretary of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry 1991-1994 and President of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (2001-2002). He was President of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry (2006-2008) and a Board Member of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry from 2003-2009. In 2015 he was Congress Chairman for the 25th International Association of Paediatric Dentistry Congress in Glasgow. Latterly was Vice-President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and Dean of the Dental Faculty (2013-2016).

Prof. Tim Wright
Prof. Tim Wright (USA)

Dr. J. Timothy Wright received his DDS degree from the West Virginia University (1978) and specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry and Masters of Science degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed and NIH Cariology Research Fellowship. He joined the faculty at UAB served as the Pediatric Dentistry Graduate Program Director. In 1990 Dr. Wright joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and served as Pediatric Dentistry Department Chair and currently is Director of Strategic Initiatives.

He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science. His research involves mineralized tissues, developmental defects of teeth and bone, cariology and development of patient care and oral health guidelines. He has had funding from NIH for over 25 years and has published over 190 scientific manuscripts.

Dr. Wright has served as the Chair of the Council for Scientific Affairs for both the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association. He served in the AADR Mineralized Tissue Group as Consultant and President. He serves on multiple editorial boards and serves on Scientific Advisory Boards for several family support groups. Dr. Wright lectures nationally and internationally on a variety of topics ranging from pediatric dentistry to genetics. He continues to participate in private practice where he treats a diverse patient population.

Dr. Zafar Cehreli (Turkey)

Dr.Cehreli is professor of Pediatric Dentistry at Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey, where he received his Dental Degree and Specialty Degree in Pediatric Dentistry. He has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and has served as a reviewer or editorial board member to many international journals.

He is an active member of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry, International Association of Dental Research and the International Association of Dental Traumatology. Dr.Cehreli has received several national and international awards in research. His clinical and research interests include restorative techniques, vital pulp therapies, biocompatibility, regenerative endodontics and dental traumatology.

Dr. Jorge Luis Castillo
Dr. Jorge Luis Castillo (Peru)

Dr Jorge Castillo obtained his DDS from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru in 1990. He got a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and a Master in Dental Sciences from the University of Connecticut in 1995 and a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Sciences in Dentistry from the University of Washington in 2000. He also holds a PhD from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in 2011. Dr. Castillo is Professor at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia School of Dentistry and Affiliate Assistant Professor at the University of Washington, School of Dentistry. He is the Immediate Past President of the International Association of Pediatric Dentistry (IAPD) (2013-2015).

Dr. Castillo has served in different local and regional Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics associations, including president of the Peruvian Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Vice president of the Latin American Association of Pediatric Dentistry and president of the Peruvian Society of Orthodontics. He is Board Certified from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Castillo is or has been part of Editorial Committees of Several journals including “Pediatric Dentistry”, the journal from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He has co-authored 3 books in Pediatric Dentistry and has published several articles in indexed journals. He has given courses and conferences in 16 different countries. Dr. Castillo owns a private practice in Lima, where he combines both his specialties: pediatric dentistry and orthodontics.

Prof. Suhad Al Jundi
Prof. Suhad Al Jundi (Jordan)

Dr. Suhad; Is currently the dean of dentistry at Jordan University of Science and Technology, she is a professor of Pediatric Dentistry, she obtained BDS in 1990, and was trained in Leeds University where she obtained her MDentSci degree, and the MRCD© in pediatric dentistry. She then proceeded to obtain the FRCD© in pediatric dentistry in 1999. She has many publications in international peer reviewed journals and co-authored a book on Oral Habits in School Children; in addition, she supervised over 30 Master theses. In addition, she was involved in establishing the specialty of pediatric dentistry in Jordan through her involvement in founding the Jordanian society of pediatric dentistry and setting up the training requirements for pediatric dentistry through her involvement in the Jordanian Medical council, she is also one of the founders of the Arabian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry .

She is a board member of the Jordanian Medical Council and the head of pediatric dentistry section at King Abdulla University Hospital. Her main research interests are Dental Trauma, quality of life research, and medically compromised patients. On her free time she enjoys fine art and is currently interested in modern realism.

Dr. William F. Waggoner
Dr. William F. Waggoner (USA)

William F. Waggoner D.D.S., M.S. has been in full-time practice of pediatric dentistry in Las Vegas, NV since 1996. He graduated from the West Virginia University College of Dentistry in 1980 and completed his Master of Science degree in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Iowa in 1982. From 1982-1986, Dr. Waggoner held a full time academic appointment at the University of Oklahoma Col¬lege of Dentistry. From 1986-1995 he was Associate Professor of Pediatric Dentistry and Director of the Children’s Dental Clinic at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. Waggoner has nu¬merous research publications in peer-reviewed dental journals and is the author of several chapters in pediatric dental textbooks. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American College of Dentists. Dr. Waggoner is a frequent speaker on the subject of dentistry for children. He has been a featured seminar speaker of the American Dental As¬sociation and has given dental presentations internationally in areas such as Russia, Portugal, China, Korea, Mexico, Thailand and Argentina and in over 30 states. He currently owns and operates three pediatric dental offices in Las Vegas with over 30 employees, including 5 other pediatric dentists.

Dr. Waggoner has been married for 38 years to his wife, Linda Ann, a marriage and family therapist. They have four grown children. His oldest child, Dr. Tesha Waggoner, has recently begun a pediatric dental residency program. His spare time is devoted to family activities, reading and traveling.

Dr. Catherine Hong
Dr. Catherine Hong (Singapore)

Catherine HL Hong is currently Associate Professor and Assistant Dean of Education at the Faculty of Dentistry in NUS, Singapore. She completed her specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte respectively.

She is a Diplomate of both the American Board of Paediatric Dentistry and Oral Medicine. Dr. Hong is actively involved in clinical research pertaining to dental management of sick children, oral manifestations in pediatric oncology patients and the role of oral microbiome in cancer therapy induced oral mucositis.

Dr.Alawadhi Graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine, USA. He attended residency training in New York University at Buffalo, where he completed hisDental Pediatric Residency and a master in Oral Sciences. He also completed a fellowship in Craniofacial Pediatric Dentistry and Naso-Alveolar-Molding at NYU Langone Medical Center.
